NAME OF ARTIFACT: Teacher Evaluation Observation & Feedback Notes

ARTIFACT DESCRIPTION

This artifact includes notes and feedback from a classroom observation I conducted during my leadership internship experience. The observation focused on instruction, student engagement, classroom routines, teacher-student interactions, and the overall classroom environment. During the observation, I documented how the teacher supported students through questioning, conferencing, feedback, and classroom procedures, while also observing how students responded to instruction and participated in learning. My role included observing the lesson, collecting evidence connected to the evaluation framework, and reflecting on instructional practices that support student growth and engagement.

Program Standards (PSEL): 1,3,4,6, 9, 10

ARTIFACT REFLECTION

The evaluation and feedback reminded me of the importance of school leaders being present in classrooms and engaged in the instructional process. I learned that observations are not just about evaluation, but about supporting teachers, building relationships, and helping improve student learning. Watching the teacher interact with students, provide feedback, and maintain strong classroom routines reinforced the importance of consistency, communication, and classroom culture to student success. It also showed me how much students benefit when teachers create spaces where they feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and receiving support while still being held to high expectations.

ARTIFACT CONNECTIONS TO CAS COURSEWORK:

EDA 722 is connected to the evaluation and feedback because the course focused on instructional leadership, student engagement, and effective teaching practices that support student achievement.  It also connects to EDA 732, which emphasized coaching, feedback, and supporting professional growth for teachers.  EDA 899 is connected because the internship provided hands-on experience in instructional leadership, teacher observations, and classroom instruction support.

ARTIFACT CONNECTION TO YOUR VISION:

This artifact directly aligns with my vision of creating schools where students feel supported, challenged, and engaged in meaningful learning. My vision emphasizes strong relationships, culturally responsive practices, high expectations, and leadership that is visible and connected to the everyday experiences of students and teachers.  The observation process also reflects my belief that school leaders should support teacher growth, strengthen classroom culture, and help create learning environments where both students and staff can thrive.

ARTIFACT IMPACT:

The evaluation supported teacher growth by providing feedback connected to instruction, student engagement, and classroom culture. It also reinforced the importance of strong classroom routines, relationship-building, and student-centered instruction. For students, classrooms with clear expectations, supportive relationships, and engaging instruction help create environments where students feel more confident participating and learning. For staff, the observation and feedback process encourages reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
