Conference Overview: The International Colloquium on Black Males in Education is an annual international gathering that serves as a space to exchange ideas and perspectives concerning the global dynamics of Black males in the educational pipeline.

Conference Session Conducted: Unicorns Do Exist!!!: Black Male Special Education Teachers (Attrition, Retention, and Resiliency)

Workshop Overview: In our groundbreaking workshop, "Unicorns Do Exist!!!", we delved into the critical yet often overlooked topic of Black male special education teachers. With a focus on attrition, retention, and resiliency, this session aimed to shed light on the unique challenges this underrepresented demographic faces within the teaching profession. Through insightful discussions, personal narratives, and empirical research, participants gained a deeper understanding of the factors influencing the retention and attrition rates of Black male special education teachers. We explored strategies for fostering resiliency and creating supportive environments that empower these educators to thrive. The representation of Black men in education is egregiously disproportionate; one objective of the workshop was to highlight their untapped and overlooked potential, proving that "Unicorns Do Exist!!!"
