EDU 203: Introduction to Inclusive Schooling- Fall 2023
Course overview: Examining schools and teaching from a disability studies perspective. Topics, issues, and values related to inclusive education. Readings, observations, and analysis of cultural media.
Duties: In this course, I lead discussions on schools and teaching from a disability studies perspective, covering topics and values related to inclusive education. I develop engaging activities to foster critical thinking and reflection on inclusive education principles, curating relevant readings and resources to support student understanding. Additionally, I arrange classroom observations to provide practical insights into inclusive teaching practices and guide analysis of cultural media representations of disability and inclusion.
SPE 324: Differentiation for Inclusive Education Fall 2021- Spring 2022
Course overview: Strategies to support and promote the learning of all students (including those with disabilities and challenging behavior). Differentiation, adaptation, active learning techniques, inclusive lesson and unit planning, assessment, and collaborative teaching.
Duties: As a TA in this course, duties involve implementing inclusive strategies, such as differentiation and active learning, to support all students, including those with disabilities and challenging behavior. Collaborative teaching and assisting with lesson planning and assessment are also key responsibilities.
DSP/CFE 614: Critical Issues in Dis/ability & Inclusion Fall 2020
Course overview: Social Construction of disability and special education. Disability autobiographies, research literature, parent narratives, legal/policy issues, shifting notions and cultural context of disability, and school and community inclusion. Review of disability classifications as they relate to these issues.
Duties: As a TA in this course, I assisted students in examining the social construction of disability and special education through various mediums, such as disability autobiographies and research literature. Additionally, the TA supports discussions on legal/policy issues, cultural contexts, and school/community inclusion while reviewing disability classifications related to these topics.
